We foster trust in the conformity assessment system.

The objective of MEC is to contribute to building trust in the conformity assessment system, which is responsible for evaluating and attesting the conformity of products, processes, management systems, individuals, claims, and inspection reports with the requirements established by applicable national and international technical standards, and to ensure the effectiveness and uniformity of approach by system operators, thereby fostering the growth of the competitiveness of the national productive system and the improvement of citizens’ well-being.

To this end, MEC attests and certifies organizations, verifying that they possess and continuously maintain over time the required organizational, procedural, technical, and professional requirements, at such levels as to generate a high degree of trust among all interested social and economic stakeholders and, in particular, among end users and final consumers, in the activities of such entities and in the value of the processes they carry out.

In line with the above objectives and in accordance with the directives expressed by its governing bodies – with the aim of better ensuring the effectiveness of the attestation and certification process and guaranteeing the effectiveness and consistency of conduct of the attested and certified entities – MEC has developed specific procedures and appropriate criteria for the application of the general requirements of the applicable regulatory standards, formalized through the issuance of the General Regulation and the relevant annexes.
